Track Name: Let the Song Work on You
I don’t know which way the world spins ‘round,
but I’ve seen how blues can get you down.
I know you want to hear something new;
I know you’re longing for something true.
And I try, I try, try, try,
but there’s not much I can do.
But tonight, I’ve got just the thing for you;
said tonight, I’ve got just the thing for you.
Come on, let the song work on you.

My guitar’s on fire, and I mean it like it’s true.
My guitar’s on fire, and I mean it like it’s true.
Come on, let the song work on you.

I can see how every morning cripples you;
the news is old and the world is cruel.
Your lunch break is no picnic,
and your afternoon tea tastes spoiled too.
But tonight, I’ve got something good for you;
said tonight, I’ve got something good for you.
Come on, let the song work on you.

My guitar’s on fire, and I mean it like it’s true.
My guitar’s on fire, and I mean it like it’s true.
Come on, let the song work on you.

When you were young, you thought of the future,
it meant all your dreams come true.
But since then, you’ve been schooled;
since then, you’ve been fooled.
And however I sing it, the truth will stay bitter
‘cause the future was sold to the highest bidder.
But tonight, I want you to listen to my songs;
I said, tonight I want you to listen to my songs.
Come on, stomp your feet;
stomp your feet and shout your blues.
Come on, let the song work on you.

My guitar’s on fire, and I mean it like it’s true.
My guitar’s on fire, and I mean it like it’s true.
But it’s no use;
I said it’s no use if the song don’t work on you.
Track Name: Angry Song
There’s an angry song that’s stuck inside my head.
There’s an angry song that’s stuck inside my head.
There’s no way out, no way out until I’m dead.

We could run run to any foreign land.
We could run run to any foreign land.
But our same old fears will keep on coming back.

Daydream satisfaction right beside your feet.
Daydream satisfaction right beside my feet.
But neatly ironed shirts will never fit my needs.

There’s an angry song that’s stuck inside my head.
There’s an angry song that’s stuck inside my head.
There’s no way out, no way out until I’m dead.
Track Name: Skype Song
So, I called you up on skype
to share my daily dose of frustration.
Despite those thousand miles
in my heart you're here,
but when I look into your eyes
it's just a bunch of pixels on my screen,
bunch of pixels on my screen.

Besides the usual love you, miss you,
there’s not much to talk about today.
My day lacked any action;
I get too needy, you get mean,
it’s the way we cope with tension;
it’s no good to do it through a machine;
we can’t do it through a machine.

You said, soon I’m coming home
but that doesn’t really solve our future.
This change is not trading up,
on arrival I’ll want to roam,
but sometimes I’d like to wake up
somewhere I can call home,
someplace I can call home.

So, I called you up on skype
to share my daily dose of frustration
but you just said, “hey boy don’t act like you’ve got no one who cares for you”.
And you said, “hey boy don’t act like you’ve got no one to listen to”.
And I said, “hey girl don’t act like I’m the one who needs you more”.
And I said, “hey girl don’t act like you never feel alone”.
And I thought, “hey boy don’t act like you’ve got no place to lay your head”.
But sometimes it’s hard, hard to see it any other way.
Track Name: The Sun Will Rise up Tomorrow
The sun will rise up tomorrow
regardless of what happens to me or you.
All the loneliness of that everyday routine
it doesn’t comfort me at all.
Some worship the sunset or rise with the dawn,
I keep vigil ‘till the end of the night.

But I’m no believer, I am just a dreamer
and tomorrow I’ll sing you my song.

It’s been a long time since I was a child
but that little boy is still trapped inside me.
He keeps coming up with all these questions,
makes me feel like I have to explain myself.

But he’s no believer, he’s just a dreamer
and the cruelty of the world is beyond his comprehension.

I used to be with a girl
but she mistook me for her prince;
our love turned into fear,
a fear of loneliness and it ate up all the reason.

But she said she’s no believer, she’s just a dreamer
and I had no chance to make her smile.

And what if the stories of our lives are just transitory yarns
tangled up incidentally,
and the sun will rise up tomorrow
regardless of what happens to me or you?
Track Name: Life Is Dirty
Life is dirty and it's down below.
You can take my hand baby,
I don't know which way to go.

I've got no business, I'm just a man.
Pretty girls and filthy cities
won't turn my head again.

We all want to have it both ways,
to be the tourist and the native,
to reinvent ourselves but not to change.
The breaking point is near.
Why don’t we take it for real?

Feeling comfy, back home again,
not domesticated
to nod my head on command.

The barrel's still smokin'; we're shakin' hands.
The world keeps turning
with questionable intent.

We all want to have it both ways,
to be the tourist and the native,
to reinvent ourselves but not to change.
The breaking point is near.
Why don’t we take it for real?

I won’t be waiting for a better chance,
time to get moving or scream,
“I'm here to make my stand”.

Life is dirty and it's down below.
Can I take your hand baby
do you know which way to go?
Track Name: It's About Time
Today came just as it was expected;
no need to act surprised;
it’s the same choices for the rest of your life.
They say swim or sink
but neither's gonna kill you.

And it’s about goddamn time you felt alive.
It’s about goddamn time you picked your fights.
It’s about goddamn time.

Well done for today,
wrapped yourself in chicken wire.
It’s see through we know you cannot lie.
You cannot hide;
your chicken soup is ruined by now.

Feeling empty and numb,
your fear is the rifle
against a whole artillery of desire.
But come out of your trenches,
there ain’t no bullets flying your way.

And it’s about goddamn time you felt alive.
And it’s about goddamn time you picked your fights.
And it’s about goddamn time you felt alive.
And it’s about goddamn time you kept your vows.

On the dismal horizon of your thoughts
you’re the flag bearer, you’re the boss,
but you’re defenceless to your endless ease.
We know you’re the one we need,
but you’re just old in revolt.

And it’s about goddamn time you felt alive.
Yes, it’s about goddamn time you picked your fights.
And it’s about goddamn time you felt alive.
And it’s about goddamn time you kept your vows.
Track Name: Weathermen
Tell Jesus, he’s very kind but I don’t want any kind of afterlife.

I have doubts about this human kind,
doubts about my place in society,
doubts about the appropriate melody
and how we will cease to be.
And I don’t know why you say there must be a sure way to go.

You’re like the weatherman, like to talk about next weekend
when you don’t even know what’s for today.

I do not take for granted who we are
and I’ve doubts about my sexuality.
And I don’t know whether I love you true
or is this some kind of medicine,
because you and I pretend,

pretend to be a weatherman; like to talk about next weekend
when I don’t even know what’s for today.

Strange voices from the past,
an old lover’s scent puts you off your path,
and you're off,
running away in the great city.

Looks as if the trees are all the same.
But strangely it’s the houses that have aged.
‘Cause we will never change.

We take life as our daily sedative.
We take our lives daily as a sedative.
We take daily life as our sedative.

Therefore we are like weathermen, like to talk about next weekend
when we don’t even know what’s for today.
Track Name: Train Song
There’s a freight train running through my veins
and it keeps me unsatisfied,
as it tells, tells my troubled mind
that my home I’ll never find.

And as my feet and I, we mind the gap
there’s folks that I meet every day.
By reading papers lonely eyes they hide
and through the hard times we have to ride.

Rambling ‘round along the tracks
old friends I sing of you,
thinking ‘bout how we used to roam
fearlessly around the lake.

From the mountain top we looked with thirst
to know, know it all,
but as the engine whistles out of tune
I wake to find myself alone.

And now I know that it’s too late
but my train, it was delayed
and what remains down in the gap,
undone dreams along the tracks.

And a signal failure lends us time,
a slight chance to build a bridge
but I follow tunnels through my mind
and questions are all that I find.

And as memories start screaming in my head
I’m slipping to the platform’s edge
but a good boy, a good boy that I am
I crawl back on to the train again.

Last night I dreamed that I was at the lake again
and no one came to greet me,
but for a moment in the freeze
there I was, I was at home.

There’s a freight train running through my veins
and it won’t ever stop
until I’ve reached my resting place
in the cold, cold ground.
Track Name: One Bright Morning
One bright morning when the sun is shinin', I'm gonna take myself to that burying ground.
When I'm leavin' I ain't gonna let you know; I'll just be gone like it's been done before.
